How split project?

Forgive what may be a daft question but, having been given a very long FCP project, I'd like to split it into smaller easily managed ones. Is it possible to split, say, a thirty minute project into three ten minute ones keeping all the editing decisions intact?

Well you could edit it in different squences and then put the peaces into a master squence and the EDL would just go off the master squence.

I've tried copying and pasting into a new section and FCP just crashes. I suppose I was just hoping there was something I'm missing - a way to just cut a long timeline into several smaller ones. Oh, well. Onward and upward!

crashing on a cut and paste? sounds like you're running on low ram, is that true?

anyway, try this:

duplicate the sequence three times.

on the 1st dupe, lift out the last 20 minutes.

on the 2nd sequence, lift out the first 10 and last 10.

and on the 3rd sequence, lift the first 20 minutes.

label the three new sequences and original accordingly.

Thanks for the suggestion. Something that simple hadn't actually occurred to me! I'll give it a go. As to your question - It crashes despite no other open programmes and 3GB of RAM.:nads:
