How should I shoot this?

So I'm shooting a small short film over the weekend. The basic premise is the deterioration of a marriage through a daily ritual. Its going to be under two minutes so my plan to show the days are different is by the woman changing costumes throughout the film. So I'd have a shot of her walking towards the kitchen sink, a c/u of her filling a kettle with water and than bring the camera back out to the same frame/position before the c/u but with the actress in a different costume.

I've been trying to think of the most time efficient way to shoot this. What I was planning on doing is having her change costumes to follow the script & storyboard so I don't have to come back to it at a later point and keep setting up the lights and camera.

My other idea was to get her to act out the film 5 different times in different costumes while just marking my camera positions/height with tape on the floor. How would you guys do it?

I'd do everything before/after the CU at one time and not touch the camera. Let the talent change and shoot. Then go in for the close ups once those shots are done, just to ensure the best possible results. Then you really only have to do 1-2 lighting setups.

My two cents.

I would go with the second idea, shooting the movie 5x with 5 diff outfits, but that sounds like an awful lot of cuts for a short. Maybe you could plan the wardrobe changes, call these cuts you're referring to scenes and shoot it like that, especially if the costumes go from light to dark or have a color pattern. let the costume changes be subtle and in the story editing, so if you cut to the faucet then back it doesn't have to be the exact frame, it could be a little different, as long as the time/light matches. I like what zfarms is saying but theres no camera effect really so I would rather keep the frame moving, and plan the transitions visually.

You can do the same closeup of the everyday tasks (think Pi / Requiem) while showing costume changes in the wide shots.
