How powerful a Mac needed for the HXV?

I'm a FCP user on a dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5. Are there any other users out there with this hardware running HVX footage or do I really need to upgrade to the quad?

You should be fine, I plan on running my dual 1.8ghz G5 tower with about 2.5gigs of ram, when i get a HVX200. I just do SD work now on it with 1.5 gigs and it runs great, at full quality. I'm pretty sure there are a more than a few people here who run macbook pro's on it, which should be similar performance. Probably even a few running on Powerbooks. I'd say just have at least 2gigs of ram and you should be all set. (more harddrive space too)

I'm running footage from the HVX on my 1.67GHZ 17" G4 laptop. So, dual 2GHZ will be just fine.

It ran fine in a simple timeline on my G4 Dual 1GHz MDD desktop in 720/24P, realtime dissolves and all.

Faster systems should help a lot when multiple video/audio/fx track start to pile up. It seems the Intel dual core 2.66 at only $2500 (plus additional memory) is the sweet spot for cost-conscious new buyers and FCP.

i edit p2 dvcprohd in the field on my old clunky 1.0ghz 17"g4 powerbook. works like a charm! now i wouldnt go doing a bunch of heavy effects on it. but for injest and general edit it runs like a well oiled machine
