I'm talking to a producer about getting one of my scripts made. I need to know how much would be fair to pay a DP. I know you get what you pay for and all, but i don't even know the ball park for a solid, indie cinematographer. It's feature length, probably three weeks-ish. thanks.

You should go by your budget break down and set it at what you can afford to pay them.

It's never the same.

Depends on budget, and a host of variables like what gear the DP can bring into the mix, how many of his crew he can get on the project, how long the days are, how experienced the DP is, how personally interested the DP is in the project, etc.

A producer would already know these things and would already know DP rates (and potential DPs for that matter.)

I've worked for as little as $100/Day (cash) with all my gear and an upper range for a DP on an Indie with a budget under $500K would be somewhere around $250-$400 per (12 hour) day I'd say.
