I'm currently editing on Vegas 8 with 2gb of ram and an AMD X2 dual-core 4200+ and I want to upgrade to an Intel Core2 Quad 9550 before I upgrade my cam to an HMC150. I also plan on chucking in 2 more gigs of ram (and obviously a mobo upgrade). The benchmarks are significantly higher (four times higher PassMark score), but I thought I'd ask around here, too.
My question is would this be overkill? Not enough? I built my computer years ago and I'm out of the game on cpus. I want to be sure I can edit the 150 in Vegas, probably native, and I wanted to see what anyone thought of this upgrade.
