With Sony's Playstation 3 debuting soon, and so much controversy surrounding it, I thought I'd take an informal poll here at DVXUser to get some statistics on how people feel about the price.

Nothing. The Wii will conquer. PS3 is estimate at 400-600$, which will cause it to sink, just like the Dreamcast.

I would not buy a Ps3 at all....having a near 600 price tag doesnt help anything.

sony is really going down the shitter lately.....and i'm loving every second of it

Nintendo shall rein supreme again...

Not only did they announce the price at $600 in the U.S., it was revealed yesterday that the box will not include the nessicary cables for HD output. So the price just wen't up $30 :)

I'll probably get one in 3 years or so, when you can get them at costco for $300 with 2 games, a mem card and an extra controller.

love costco ;)

If the Wii is $199, I'll be there day one

I agree!

Life is too short to save 200 bucks and wait 2 years. In 2 days i wont miss the extra 200 bucks. YOu seriously have to make minimum wage for something like that to effect you

At the moment....i dont even have a job. haha...and when i get one again.....i'm sure minimum wage will be what i make.

However...i woulnt buy a PS3 if i had all the money in the world....the way they've copied off Nintendo with thier motion sensing controller, (which won't even work that great in the shape of a normal controller) the type of games they put out, and the fact that my ps2 broke soon after its perchase.......I can never give sony any love again.

And thier cameras....i dont like those either.

The 360's are actually breaking at an alarming rate , and in comparison to PS2's breaking down at about the 2 year mark, it is atrocious. Basically every launch 360 will be broken within 2 years. Everyone i know who has a launch system has had to have it serviced or replaced.

Ok, people say get a warrenty at the store when you buy it. Thats kinda messed up and i opted not to get one on the 360 when i did, simply because i dont pay for services. But if you do, its an extra 50 to 80 bucks bumping up the price of the systems and padding terrible stores like GS and EBgames (same company now) wallets.

The PS3 having an extra motion sensor isnt a bad thing. How is that a bad thing, it just gives the Devs something extra to work with, copied or not. Its just an extra thing to have, why not have it?

Wii will pwn, and im a nintendo fan boy, through and through. Ive got 2 or 3 of every nintendo system ever released (even the japanese ones) along with a plethora of carts in closets, boxes, displayed, and have paid , HAPPILY, over 50-80 bucks for some rare carts. Dont take me as a MS hater, i just dislike the support on the system, and the LIES that happen every month.

BTW, it took 2 weeks for my launch 360 to crap out.

I will do what i've done with all the consoles. Buy 5 of them, and sell them at ridiculous markups!

I'll spend nothing.

I'm with Lucidz.

Do what i have to to get several systems on launch day and then keep one while selling the rest for ridiculous pricetags to wealthy suburban parents looking to spoil their rotten offspring on Christmas.

^
i do the same whenever possible and get my godparents in on it as well! theyve got more free time and a costco card! :)

Cynic, the difference between you and most of the rest of us, is that it's worth $600 dollars to you.

It's we're not really going to win an argument about what's better, what's too much etc. Most of us refuse to pay $600 not because we feel we're being jipped, but simply because too me, I know I won't get $600 worth of enjoyment out of it.

If the wii had amazing, state of the art graphics hardware to go along with it's innovative design, and they wanted $600, I'd have to pass on that as well. But you sound as hard core as they come so a $600 investment for something that will keep your interest for the next 5 years isn't a bad deal.

For me, I'd rather save for Red.

Yup. That about sums it up. I think the majority of Joe Public is in Cheesesailor's category.

Personally I like the 600$ price tag. It ensures more grown ups owning the system. Not all the parents can afford it for their kids which means, in my mind, they're targetting 20-30 somethings. If they direct their attention towards that crowd I'd be thrilled.
