How much $$ to log DV tapes and story produce

Hello,
I've recently started working on a low budget TV show, where the footage has already been shot and we are now creating the show based on the footage. I am editing/story producing. My main job for the first week was to import DV footage from a deck onto my laptop, making notes along the way and trying to figure out what the first 4 episodes would be about.
My original rate was per episode but I've had to leave to work on a different project and am now wondering what kind of compensation I should be looking for based on importing 12 DV tapes, making notes, and creating 4 episode outlines.

Any thoughts? Its a tricky situation.

You should be charging either an hourly or daily rate for the work you do. If you charge per episode, there is no limit to how long it can take to make an episode, you will make the same regardless of whether it takes one day, one week, one month or one year.

The fact that you are wearing so many hats makes me think that you are not really dealing with a pro production here. Logger/assit. editor usually logs the tapes and pulls the selects ($200-350/day), the editor (450-600/day) then craft the show with help from the story producer (don't know the rates). MY girlfriend (an editor at $550/day) was sometimes forced to act as also story producer but she wasn't really making any extra for that so safe to say it's about $500/day.
