Re: How much should I charge this guy?

That's exactly why I have nothing to do with weddings. It's just too damn much work and they'll never truly appreciate how much work went into it.

Re: How much should I charge this guy?

OMG - Thank you all so much for helping out. This board is the best.

Well, you may be ready to punch me, as I was indeed ready to punch the client.

I call him to drop my 'it's gonna be $1600' speech. And he says, 'oh, you know, the other tapes were all blank. So it's just 2 tapes'.

GRRRRRRR!!! :P

Then he says he wants it by valentines day. Very unlikely. I'm thinking of charging $400 to do it, but if he wants it by valentines day it will be at least $600.

Sorry if you feel you wasted your time by replying to the earlier scenario. I learned an immense amount from the responses - thank you!

Ok, no problem..

But, how exactly do you edit a wedding video, when you didn't attend it?

Curious.....I've always avoided wedding shoots, religously.

And I thought I was the only one who drank during edit sessions... 8)

A bunch of blank tapes--I knew it! :D No time wasted, it's still a good discussion.

I'll bet that's the best news you've heard this week. ;)
