How much shock can my DVX take?

Had my DVX shipped back to me from another province and when I got it today the ****ing box looked like it was used as a soccer ball!!

It was in a 1550 so it should be ok right? How much shock can it take when in the pelican? Camera turns on and seems to be undamaged. Hypothetically the camera in the pelican could take a pretty good beating right?

I put 4K insurance on it, but what should I look for? Can something inside crack from the shock? I'm totally ****ing stressed out!

Tell me I'm over reacting and all is well. :undecided

Mind to take a picture of the victimous box?

then ill be able to tell.....

:)

If the cam works fine and theirs no scratches or cracks anywhere....it should be fine....if there's problems with shooting for some reason etc...then id suggest you call the shipping company and give them hell.

..my 2 cents..

I've put my camera through such abuse and it has never...knock on wood...never, given me a problem.

I jammed it in a backpacks, Knocked it around, gotten it wet and generally abused it. Wrap the sucker up in foam and I swear you can hammer nails with it.

Do a full check of all the functions and see if it is acting kooky. If you know your cam you'll know if it acts screwy. If it is get your insuance informed right away.

But dude, it's probably fine. It's a very durable camera.

Good to know..when i get mine in June then ill be safe to know that i can throw it on my wall and throw it up in the air for really crazy shots. haha

..no joke.....

I dropped mine out of the back of a truck onto a parking lot once... still fired up with no problems at all. Tough lil bugger.

not that this should be a standard.. but when we where shooting Sleepover Nightmare one of the cameramen was running full tilt following the talent, he tripped, the DVX flew, hit the ground, bounced about 10 feet in the air, then crashed down on the hard dirt. The matte in the lens spun around, but that was it. Ironically that camera was owned by the stunt team, and I know they use it still to this day with no problems.

DVX's are built tuff.. very tuff.

Good to know it's tough! - Add that and the pelican and I think I'm groovy.

She is NEVER, EVER being shipped again... I will buy it a seat on the plane if I have too :cheesy:

yeah.. man i should post that raw footage from that scene if i could find the tape.. because the tape was running the entire time :)

That would've been a cool extra on the dvd.
I saw "sleepover nightmare" in best buy and I turned to my friend and said "hey, the guy that shot this runs the coolest, website, on the planet and I'm a member." I didnt pick it up though. Promise Jarred, I will next time I'm in best buy!

Don't think I could watch the DVX hit the ground from tripod hight... When I seen the box it looked like Jim Carry from The Pet Detective delivered it - I was sick...

Seeing it free fall from 6 feet would kill me...

Then when i get mine..ill be sure to make a short film just for u of me dropping my cam...but of course..ill get insurance..then a new cam.

dakotapod..your done...ahha

I was driving around on a moped the other day with my DVX100 in one hand and driving with the other. Each time someone caused me to swerve (almost get in an accident) I would hold the camera closer to me, as if protecting it like a child. They should make little stickers for your car that say, "DVX onboard*".

One of the first times I used my camera I didnt affix it to the tripod properly, rookie mistake, and when I panned down the thing slipped right out and landed face first on the ground with the screen open. Not as dramatic as Jarred's story, but I turned an ashen color, picked it up, and it was just fine.

You sure have been putting a lot of legalese®** at the bottom of your posts. Whatever gave you that idea?

Hey is it just me or did anyone else notice how lucid and legible blckhawk542's post is? I mean, not ONE gang sign.

Guys and gals, our little blackhawk542 is growing up. :)

This thread makes me want to film with the DVX in its pelican. Maybe I'll put a lcd inside, film the LCD, close the case, and put a mini35 on the outside electronically wired to the lcd.

Hey, I could make some money. What gg should I use? :cheesy:

I think I'll call it Red.
