Does anyone know how much a colorist at any company in any region makes per hour? I know it can vary but what can one expect to make. If you are a colorist just start by saying someone you know makes... Thanks All :)

depends a REAL colorist for film and video makes alot of money but they are trained to use heavy duty equipment.

150+ for the film guys I know... but its like getting into the DP ranks.. most of them
have been doing it forever or moved up through the ranks.

the da vinci is one of the better using about the 2k resolution but there are other id say you average from 60- 150k dpending how skilled you are and what you messing with cause their are not many colorist but i would research the guys who did oh brother where art thou? they have a big thing about it on the dvd. i cant remeber the company... right now.

We've done some stuff at CCI that was billed at a discount to us, but I believe their normal rate is something around $400/hr. I don't know how much of that the operator is taking home, probably around half. This was done on the DaVinci 2k/Spirit. These rates are pretty standard for Hollywood work.

They don't use chemical mixing anymore?

I thought the best way was to still use traditional chemicals...

it is but alot of dps and directors now shoot straight thn choose look but there are still chemical processing.

Honestly I haven't heard of very many projects using actual processing anymore. It's all DI everywhere you look. Part of that is hype, of course, but I bet there's not very many A-level projects going to chemical timing anymore.

I doubt the rates have changed very much for pro-level work. Lower level work has probably bottomed out a bit given how many people have the tools now.

they still make alot it dpends o the project and rate setup just like an editor or processing and telecine lab
