how much better is 11 to 9?

Is Pro 9 worth giving up for Pro 11? Shooting on 5d mkiii and Hvx200 I thought about upgrading to Pro 12 but still hearing issues with it? Also I thought that each year was an upgrade year? Example Pro 9 for 2009 etc...? And if so where is Pro 14?

Pro 12 is the current and latest version and a good many people have found it to be more stable than Pro 11.

No, there's not a new version every year. Vegas 13 may be out sometime this year.

Every version improves handling of newer codecs. Vegas 12 edits Panasonic P2 footage without the need for Raylight.

Honestly, I thought 12 was touch-and-go for a while, but it has matured and is stable. I just made this with it while goofing around:

It sometimes still crashes for a lot of users (ahem) but probably no more than other NLE's, there are some known issues that haven't been addressed but by now these could be considered minor. There are a lot of extra features, I'd say it's well worth the upgrade. Why don't you try the demo?

Agreed, try the demo version - that's likely to quickly identify any problems with your particular combination of hardware and files and plug-ins.

Personally I've always found Vegas extremely stable, even the brand new releases, but then I have a very boring vanilla PC set up (and I like it that way ) - most problems I've heard of seem to be obscure compatibility issues.

It's unlikely that v11 would be any less stable than v12 for you.
