How much are micro-budget / low budget feature films selling for currently?

Anyone have any numbers on what distributors are paying currently for micro-budget / low budget feature films with no big names in them?

generally, domestic distributors who routinely take on micro budget movies without stars don't pay an advance and MGs are practically nonexistent. the exception would be pictures that have acquired the prestige of top tier festival laurels. what you can expect is a percentage of the net revenue they generate from wholesale DVD, cable VOD, et cetera, et cetera.

Buyers for international territories offer more potential for revenue. But first you've got to find a sales agent that thinks he can do something with your movie. it won't be much, but it will be something. our agent just sold broadcast rights to Russia for a few thousand on one our movies.

overall, one very important lesson I've learned is that cast appeal makes a huge difference. perhaps, the key difference. and they are worth the extra effort if you want a real shot at making some money. as with anything though, there are exceptions.
