I was not sure where to put this, but if a mod wants to move it elsewhere, go ahead.
I am trying to learn about the bayer filter pattern and how it works. I'm a bit confused about the pattern.
I understand how it works with 50% green, 25% red, and 25% blue sites.
But how many sites = one pixel? Four? I read somewhere that the pattern is a repeating 2x2 grid but each pixel is actually a sample from 3x3 grid blocks of the pattern for a total of 9 sites... or is it One site, one pixel... but the color is sampled from other photo site pixels around it.
But now i am seeing that it's a 2x2 grid which is averaged with the surrounding 3 2x2 grids in 9 different configs. How confusing!
So is that right? 9 photo-sensor information = one pixel?
And boy do I have even more frustrating and difficult questions that need answering! Hahaha.
