How many GBs space do you generally need for a HD?

I'm planning on editing 3-5min (some 30 min) shorts from a Cannon A1-XH. The footage for the 3-5min ones range from 20-30min worth of footage. I'm looking to buy a Glyph 050q and was wondering how much space I needed. I'd really like to shoot for the 250gb if possible since it's closer to my budget. I don't mind deleting the footage when I'm finished with it. Thanks.
