how many gbs do i need?

Looking for a woman
i have about 80 minutes of dvx footage that i need to download to the computer. i then have to convert it to mpeg-2. how much space do i need for this?
 
looks like i'll have to pick up another hard drive. will there be any sync issues if i get an external drive?
 
Make sure you have editing space also. A lot of NLEs put temp transcoded files that take up a lot of damn space that they don't tell you about when starting a new project and importing everything. Thats why I love the P2 MXF and Avid, no extra files except effects renders.
 
Best Buy and Circuit City had some great deals on 320 - 500 gig hard drives. Hundred twenty bucks, something like that.
