How many facebook, twitter pages?

I'm going to be shooting a micro-budget feature film. My script is pretty close to being ready, so I want to get a jump on branding myself, my production company, and the upcoming film.

I'm creating a website for the production company and the film itself. What about the social networks? I have a personal facebook and twitter page. Facebook seems like a good place to start a fan page for the upcoming film. Isn't it overkill to have a fanpage for my production company? Now twitter seems like a good place for the production company, but not for the film itself.

I don't want to dilute any buzz I drum up for my project. All thoughts and comments appreciated. Thanks.

Think of social media as landing pads for potential fans to discover you or your film. each of these tentacles should lead them back to a central hub (your web site) where they can continue to discover and interact with you and the film. this is also the place where you should have a mechanism that collects email addresses so you can nurture an on-going relationship with them.

For twitter to be effective, you'll need to be part of a long-term discussion. it's a commitment. tweets sent out as "advertising" for your film is going to be ignored. genuine dialogue will create that "landing pad" for people and they will be compelled to learn more about you.

Thanks Zak. It's funny, I thought about hitting you up on your pm before I created this post. Wasn't sure if that was appropriate. I guess I finally get to use those apps for my iphone now. Since this will be my first feature, I have to start creating content for my sites. I have quite a few stills from the shorts that I've done. I'm getting a logo designed for the production company and the film.
