I'm in the process of building a new system for DV editing using Premiere. I'm somewhat stuck at the hard drive crossroads. (Without getting into the drive failure of RAID) I hear RAID 0 is the way to go, others say that RAID 0 is overkill for DV, that SATA drives are more than sufficient and will not bottleneck.
Is RAID 0 overkill?
As well, how many drives. Adobe suggests that optimally I should have separate drives for captured video, captured audio, video previews (I assume this is the scratch drive), audio previews, and conformed audio. This seems like major overkill. Can anyone shed some light from their personal experience or knowledge.
Thx-
