How is this visual style achieved?

I want to replicate the visual look of the video at the link below, not the animation or content of the video, just the visual style.

1. How is the color style achieved? Can it be done only in FCP or do you need 3rd party programs?
2. How are the noise, and flashing effects created?
3. At around 2 minutes there seems to be some artifacts that stay on the screen. Is this just some semi-transparent graphic created in another program that is placed on another layer?

Thanks in advance!

1. This is some extreme color grading/high contrast. This style is called "cross processing" and has its roots in developing film. On a basic level it is shifting the darker parts of the image to one color, and the lighter ones to another. This is definitely possible in FCP but for more complicated grading you'll want to use a program dedicated to just that.
2. You could do it in FCP with the "bad film" filter but your options are limited. You'll get a better and more unique look buying stock video of bad film and layering it over the original.
3. You got it, its a graphic overlayed on the video possibly as a key with some blur applied to it.
