Hey guys

Im currently using a single Samsung syncmaster T220 screen in my editing suite. But after purchasing a HD camcorder, I fugred to get the best out of it I should Upgrade to a true HD monitor?

How much difference would I notice? Would it be worth it?

Heres the monitor Ive been looking at, but if anyone has any other suggestions, would love to hear them! Cheers!

If the video's going to be full screen on the 1080p screen then sure, go for it, otherwise get something that matches your current res and dual screen it.

What you should get is a color accurate monitor to check the colors and color correct your footage, IMO, thats more important.

I am working towards dual screen guys, but some other items will have to come first, so will get a single monitor for the time being

I shoot (atm anyway) pretty much just 720.

Any thoughts on what monitor I should look into?

And again, HOW IMPORTANT is HD, or will sd do?

Well computers monitors aren't separated by SD and HD, such as with TV's.

Instead, they each have a native res because each LCD screen has a set number of pixels. Some monitors are 1360*760 which is quite small, but not "SD" and they can also go all the way up to 2560*1600.

When having a dual screen setup, it is better to have the same res on both screens.

IF you're just trying to "get of the ground", then get a cheap screen, just used for monitoring right and get a better one when you can.

I have a samsung syncmaster T220 right now.

the debate is wether purchasing iiyama HD screen would be a worthwhile purchase. I have read in other places things along the lines of 'Editing HD footage without a HD monitor is like playing sports in the dark' which I felt were a little strong, so wondered what you guys thought.

Im aware of having the same resolution, I would sell on the samsung if the iiyama (or another monitor you suggest) is worth buying.

That being said, I must point out that anywhere between the £150-£200 is my target mark - but £200 wud be the absolute maximum, id prefer to go lowr cost. I am not in the market for a £2000 monitor unfortunatley!

Cheers

Another question

I have the syncmaster t220... but there is also a synvmaster t220 HD screen.

Now, if I was to go for a dual screen setup, could I connect these two monitors considering they are the same resolution?

Would it be possible to run a HD monitor on the left with the standard def model on the right? Would that work? Or would it only be possible to run them both at standard def?

Cheers guys!
