How hot do the G5s get? Running G5 in hot summer.

I am looking at purchasing a new G5, either the 2Gig or the 2.5 Gig. I realise no one has the new 2.5 yet but I am interested in the 2.5 because of its fluid cooling (quieter? But hotter?). What sort of heat do the G5s produce?

My problem is that my house is not air-conditioned and can during summer get up around the mid 30 Celsius. Between 35 C (95 F) and 38C (100.4 F)

Am I being foolhardy running a G5 in hot conditions? One of the dealers suggested getting a portable aircon unit.
What do you think?

You might want to consider getting a small air conditioner or something. The equipment does get hot so you'd want them to be in a cool environment. My pro studio monitors get hot. Sometimes I may not even be playing audio through them and the back of the monitors are pretty warm!

Where my computer is easily gets into the 90s. My computer has never complained though I have quite a bit.

Yea my editing suite is in a room that has a skylight in it so it does get quite warm in there if I don't have the air on. I do try to keep a fan blowing. I do the majority of my editing at night anyway....my creative ideas flow better at night for some reason.

Cover the skylight on hot days.

I live in Arizona. Today the low is 82F and the high 107F, but we have A/C inside. I don't think that 100F would be good for any computer, so I would get a small A/C unit. Your computer will last longer that way... heat is the enemy of electronics.

You'll shorten the lifespan on that baby running it in hot conditions all the time.

Definitely have an air conditioned room, but it doesn't need to be a freezer (unless you have a LOT of heat generating equipment).

As for how hot the G5 gets, not very.  I have a dual 1.8 with two 250 GB drives and 2 GB of RAM, and I've never felt the outside of the case get more than barely warm.  The inside is three separate chambers with air pushing through from front to back with numerous fans at variable speed, the case is aluminum, and the heat sinks on the G5 CPUs are enormous aluminum louvers.  It's a very, very cool-running and quiet machine.
