how good is the dvd encoding in fcp?

i'm in a bit of a bind, found a great designer for the dvd interface, but they only encode from fcp....on the other hand found a company that has the best dvd encoders on the market but their customer service sucks and they didn't seem that interested in doing a great job on the design side of things....

plus the fcp dvd interface designers can't include a dlt for css, and im not too enthused about fcp being used to encode my film.....

this film has been in the works for a long time and i don't want to get less than the best over all quality in every area....so any ideas?

thanks,

you want to go with a company using a hardware encoder for top of the line results. in terms of software encoders, Compressor, which comes bundled with Final Cut Studio is one of the best. but can't compete with a hardware encoder.

can you enlist both? have the company create the mpeg2 and ac3 files for the film, and provide those to the designer to integrate them into the build of the DVD?

hmm, don't know why i didn't think of that. not sure how they will make the dlt. work but i'll check into that tomorrow.

thanks.

after speaking to the company that uses sonic hardware encoders it sounds like i should just go with the company that does the fcp encoding/ authoring ...because the film is only 40 minutes and it shouldn't really mess up the results that much at all.
