How good is Premiere for sound effects?

If I'm mixing some foley effects and other sounds I've made do I need to buy an upgrade package like Soundbooth or am I good to go with the basic $800 version?

(I'm not quite ready to download the trial version yet.)

I wouldn't say premiere is the right place to do it, soundbooth is closer.

But look at Adobe Audition, that's as good as it gets (in the adobe family) and it's great.

otherwise, look at Audacity over at http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

It's the better freeware audio app out there,
