How fast is FCP X

I am a newbie of FCP X but I shot 3 sections of footage on a Go Pro hero at different resolutions R3 R4 and R5 these are different resolutions and frame rates. each clip was approx 12 seconds

The test machine is a brand new iMac i7 3.4 Gbytes 16 Mbytes RAM.. blah blah

So FCP 7 - to render all 3 clips on the time line over 5 minutes

FCP X - to render all three clips on the time line (auto background render) 20 sec approx, its so fast by the time I had dragged the 3rd clip down from the skimmer clip 1 had been rendered

What's funny is that because of the speed increase, I find myself doing a lot more in grading. I had a very basic product demonstration video where I stuffed about 7 secondaries into each shot - the render took fairly long (though still faster than FCP7/Color).
 
I had an edit on FCP 7 mixing prores (shot on an AF101) and Gopro footage on an old Macpro 1 (5 yrs old).

it was agony the old mac can handle prores ok but mixing formats, even a simple 1 frame move of anything demanded a big render, enough time to make a fresh cup of coffee.. that edit took days...hence my decision to buy a new iMac..but FCPX flies its very very impressive
