how essential is diversity wireless

Diversity helps in path reflection and is generally not affected by urban envionement or not. Diversity in body packs receivers is pretty useless as there is not enough distance between the antenna to make much difference.

More important, imho, is to select a freq. block mostly immune to digital tv stations in the particular urban area. Lectro provides a list of frequencies to corresponding channels. Would be a good idea to study that information (I imagine Sennheiser offers something similar) and choose wisely before making the purchase.

Some blocks are better than others in certain areas. I am told Block 24 is one of the "least desirable" ones to have although one of my systems is in B24 and I've never had any problems.. However, I'm usually in more of a rural setting for most of my work, so perhaps it would not fare so well in a more congested RF area.

Moral of this story: study the blocks and pick good relevant uncluttered frequencies.. Do that and you shouldn't have to be as concerned about True Diversity wireless.

They all have dropouts, eventually. Hope this helps.

now for a specific question...
in regions like the middle east i've heard that they use higher channels... would that effect UHF freqencies possibly....
I also heard downtown toronto is a gong show for radio interference??? i can only imagine NY... BUT how far does radio interence go...
