How do you write a montage scene - with lots of scene headings?

I have a problem. The general rule is a page per minute for screenplay format. Ive been writing for a few years now and generally I have found this to be true.
However, In certain action scenes, or montages, where there is a lot of action to describe, the script may become 2 pages per minute. Especially this happens in a montage scene where you are writing scene headings for a shot that is not very long.

Are there any advanced tricks, or ways to make the page length equal the running time length?

The 1 page/minute is an average over the course of a script. It doesn't apply to every page. Some sections of the script will pace out at 2-3 pages/minute and other sections will pace out a 1 page / 2-3 minutes, and other variations but I think you get the idea. If you average it out over the length of an entire script it should work out to roughly 1 page / minute.

(Disclaimer: I am not a professional screenwriter, nor do I play one on television  )

i might be wrong but i didn't think you needed sluglines for each shot in a montage. i thought you could do something like this:

MONTAGE

A) A busy street.

B) Some guy watches TV on his couch.

C) A couple drive on the freeway.

etc.

that might save you some space.
