Hi,
i never worked with Prores yet in adobe premiere. For color grading some people says it is faster, computer wise.

When i upload all my video (.mov) files in adobe premiere. should i put them on my timeline and compress them in prores ?

And then, i upload these prores on my project and i edit with them. Once i finish my project, what should i do?

thanks in advance for any help,
i dont know what are the steps to work with this

My files from my t3i are .mov

My computer is a dell Inspiron 15 7000 series :i7, CPU 2.60GHz, 8go RAM. Not bad

Thanks in advance,

if i use an external disk to play the .mov files, would it already make a big difference of speed for editing ?
Because for now, i use the hard disk of my computer. Maybe it is not a good idea for speed.
thanks in advance

Yes, you really need an external drive. You should have no problems playing the native files from the T3i with that computer. The only reason to transcode to something else is if you're doing an offline/online workflow (also called proxies). Making the files ProRes will probably do more harm than good in your case because the h.264 files are already so compressed. Edit and finish with the native files.

I shot with a T2i for six years and once I had a laptop comparable to yours, I stopped offlining and just worked with the native camera clips. It looks pretty good, I can post some samples if you want.

I would also do a wee bit of research on what you will need to edit ProRes on a Windows machine before you jump in. It's a much easier codec to work with on a Mac.

I mean i only work with .mov.
I dont work in premiere with h264. I only export my final project in h264

If i use an external hard drive maybe it would go faster. I'll try it

thanks for the comments,
