How do you transport your adapter?

I finally got a Letus Extreme for my HVX200a yesterday (though I have yet to assemble it).

I'm curious to know how many people leave their adapter on permanently, once it's in place on their camera, vs. how many disassemble it for transport each time they're bringing it to a new project.

I'm not sure how reasonable taking it off would be (along with the rods, and follow focus) - and how much of a pain it would be to get it back onto the camera each time.

I take it on and off all the time. I store it in either letus case it came with or most ofthe time I have a Burton photo backpack and it's just enough room for my hvx, extreme, 4 lenses , rods and a few other things. it's a tight fit but it works and I won it for FREEE!

I kept mine together in a giant wheeled storm case. If you're interested I still have the case, you will just need to buy new foam.

Cool - thanks for all the information, everyone. I just assembled mine an hour ago - not sure if I'd want to go through any part of that again, just to make it transportabe.

Rob, thanks - I'm going to look into some bigger case options - I think I'm going to keep it together as much as possible.

I build the camera at home and carry it to the job built in most cases.

I never managed to find a case to put the whole rig into but that would be preferable.

.

I leave my setup in a working state on tripod at home. When I need to shoot I verify that is calibrated on my focus chart then literally strap it into my car with a seat belt. Sounds scary, but I had the same problem of trying to find a case that could fit my rig fully built. I keep the tripod at about 6-inches off the ground so if it did fall over it isn't going far and it will hit carpet. Don't have kids or pets so the only person that can potentially screw it up is me.

On location I'm surprised how fast I can move by strapping into the back seat of the car. I have another truck that carries the bulk of my equipment so my setup sits all by itself.

i keep the mattebox, follow focus, and rails (24") together and put them in a case i custom cut to fit with the rods/camera mount sticking out, and the camera/letus, lenses, mics, media, filters etc in a separate case.

I've got a storm case im2975. It let me keep the HVX/Brevis assembled on rails, with the matte box on, and had space to put the P2 store, card, monitor, and a few more accessories.

It was big, and heavy...but it was nice not having to assemble from scratch on each shoot.

I built a custom wooden case and lined it with carpet and foam. It's big enough for my hvx and sgblade but it's a heavy beotch. Need some wheels.

Thanks again, everyone.

Cow, I was wondering if anyone transported it like that. I guess if you strap it in tight and don't come to a sudden stop, it's as safe as any other method.

Zblock, if you ever get the chance to post a photo of your custom case, I'd like to see it. I think I'd be more likely to go that route than to take it apart and ressassemble every time.

Just make sure whatever you have has wheels.

I brought my rig on a cross country shoot, and if I didn't have wheels I would have died carrying that thing into a hotel every night.
