I'm sorry I have to post a thread like this - I know they're not usually a valuable resource for anyone other than the OP but I need your help!
How do you think this shot was lit?
As others mentioned. It's a single source, it's definitely a soft or diffused source, but it's fairly far away. The light is soft, but it doesn't wrap that much so it will be relatively low compared to the subject (just above her).
If someone wanted me to do something like this, a 2K fresnel through a frame of trace or similar light diff, distance I'd work out based on the exposure I needed.
yes, I would say they flagged some of the light and that it is a top/back ambiguous diffuse source. In any case it's really noisy and so I think it's inadequate and so WAY under exposed!
it's really not that controlled. But they seem to have placed it so it only lights the bed and walls slightly. You could get away with a smiliar effect without using any flags by just placing the soft light at an appropriate distance from your subject.
