How do you store your G2?

I've been in the habit of wrapping the lav wire around the transmitter and sticking it in my bag, but I suspect this isn't the best practice. Since I've got some Countryman lavs on order to replace the stock mics, I'd like to find out what's the appropriate way to put them away.

Mark,

First, always disconnect the microphone from the Tx before storage - leaving it connected is a sure way to break the connector on the Tx. Second, look at getting a foam case for them. I use a Vanguard case for mine, which is a cheap version of a Pelican or PortaBrace hard case (you know the kind - with the foam you can make custom-sized spaces in). I have mine stacked one on top of the other in the case, and made a small slit in the foam for the antennae to slide into to help protect them (this is my one serious complaint about the G2's - the antennae don't come off easily for storage).

If you're using a run 'n gun style bag, you can probably just leave them in the bag (I know my Petrol bag has great wireless holders that attach.) The Countryman mics come with faux-leather cases - just coil up the cable and keep the mics in their cases.

more of a pain is how to store unused lav/tx combos while you're running and gunning and could need them at any moment! I hate that!

I've got a petrol bag and have made some little velcro ties on the tx pouches - i pop the tx in the pouch, loosely coil the lav cable, and strap it safely into the velcro - quick to get at, but pretty secure and safe.

its not too hard to store gear safely long term, what can be really hazardous to gear is those "temporary" storages when you have to quickly change a location, or swap out a mic on the run. thats where ive had most damage done to my gear...

Okay, so I've always done nice figure-8 loops with my light cords and XLR cables, then turned around and treated my fragile lavs like balls of yarn -- now I've been set straight. But now you've got me wondering -- I also wrap the cord of my 7605 around the headphones -- should I be doing something different with them, as well?
