How do you store your camera gear when not in use?

I just had a quick question to the forum that the thread title pretty much lays out. When you're not shooting or about to shoot what do you do with your camera equipment? Obviously storing in a dry, moisture free environment away from direct sunlight is ideal, but do you leave the camera packed away in field bags ready to go? Put them stored or locked away in cupboards? Or leave them out in the open on benches or on display? Just curious to hear what people's habits are and why. Cheers

I keep the cam in its bag and all other stuff in a construction worker tool box (Stanley) that has wheels, a pull handle and a nice see-true compartment for batteries, accessible without any need to open the box.

Inside, each item has it's individual bag, but no real way to organize things beyond this as the tool box is basically a tub.

Probably a good idea to remove batteries (camera, microphones, on-cam lights) and put them in individual bags so they don't short each other out.

Remove the SD cards and store then in an SD card holder.

Put a lens cap on your fixed lens cam if you have one otherwise cap the body to prevent dust getting in.

If you store the cam in it's bag, put a bag over the VF so that nothing can scratch it, if you keep the cam in the open, put a bag over the VF so that if the cam gets repositioned and ends up with the back pointing toward the sun you don't have a problem there.

For sound cords, do figure eight and then put 3-4 velcro straps to prevent them from getting tangled. Same for power cords.

I stopped losing items from the time I started to keep them in one box

I have no suggestions re storing tripods. I keep lights on their light stands. No solution for transporting either other than 'carefully".
