How do you key out 2 different colors?

i have some bluescreen footage where the blue background behind the subject is two different shades of blue. so when i sample one portion of the blue it still leaves another shade of blue that's visible. whats the best way to key the entire background out when it's two different shades like this?

Some keying tools allow you to pick a color range or multiple colors in one go, or you can adjust settings in tolerance and so on since both colors are blue.

In FCP use the chroma keyer, select the eye dropper, then hold shift to select variations within the color. You may need to make slight adjustments to tweak the key.

Oneinfiniteloop has it right, I think. Use a garbage matte to get rid of one of the colors of blue if you can and then key out the other blue, or use two instances of your keyer, one for each color of blue if they are too different to key with one instance. Getting a clean chroma key often (usually) involves more than simply applying one instance of you keying software.

for some reason applying two instances of keylight behaves the same as one. when i click on one part of the background it turns black (as it should) but when i sample the second part of the blue area everything turns black for some reason. it seems like you should be able to key out two different colors...am i missing something?

this actually worked pretty good, but i'm not able to fine tune the rest of the actor as he moves i still see blue edges and FCP appears to not have the same flexibility as after effects for me to edit that out whenever it appears at a certain point in the video. i've never done this beyond what you just suggested though in FCP so if there's room for further tweaks please do tell. :)
