how do you guys do it??

Ok, I am trying to compress a music video I made for the web. I am using premiere pro 1.5 and want to use the quicktime codec. I have watched many of your videos online and they look great but they are also small enough to stream. So I am using the quicktime compressor in premiere and am able to get a good video at 320x240 and like a 25mbs bitrate. but the file is like 100mb!! I have seen videos on here that are twice as big in resolution but are only 4o mbs. I have tried over 40 different settings and I just can't seem to make it work. I am extremely frustrated and I'm sure the answer is as simple as buying the $500 sorenson compressor!!:furious3: lol oh well. anyway any advice is appericated

It's probably just a typo because 25 Mbps is high bitrate for High Definition h.264 video, but if it isn't then check that because a good bitrate for online video of that size is 500 kbps.

Also I run Premier Pro 1.5 at work as well as FCP and the Premiere Pro station can't seem to encode any quicktime content under 100mb no matter how low the settings are. Plus Adobe's support is atrocious which is why we got the FCP station in the first place, not to mention a lack of batch export features as we're an assembly line edit department.

LOL your right it is at 25 kbs lol sorry bout that. so you think I should just use the Windows Media Player codec insted?

I've never been able to get satisfactory results exporting h.264 from Premiere.
I export an uncompressed quicktime from Premiere and open it and encode h.264 using Quicktime Pro. The difference is night and day. And Quicktime Pro doesn't cost a fortune.

Try using PREMIERE'S encoder. When you export the video, don't EXPORT to DVD, TAPE, or MAKE MOVIE. You want to use Windows Media Encoder. I believe its WM9. Make sure all of your settings are correct (widescreen vs. full screen, progressive vs. interlaced etc.) I've gotten some pretty impressive results. Files that are teeny tiny but incredibly watchable.

Give that a shot!
Rick

Any suggestions for those that use FCP with QT PRO or Serenson 3? I have been using h.264 but I know the footage should look better than it does.
