How do you get the look ?

I'm pretty sure major distributors bypass Youtube's compression when they upload content there.

Also they're shooting with cameras that produce sharper images than a DSLR, and their source is of a higher resolution as well.
 
a) shoot and light the film properly
b) move the camera like a boss
c) do professional color grading
d) apply huge amounts of noise reduction youtube version. I mean HUGE amounts. All the noise has to be taken away.
e) export the master files into youtube, not heavily compressed h264 files.
f) enjoy


Camera sharpness or resolution has nothing to do with this... You won't get anything near that even if you buy three epics and export homemovies shot with them.
