Hi All

I need help on aswering these questions.

1) Do you need the dvx to capture footage or can you use any kind of mini dv/dv cam deck?

2) What capture settings should I use to edit 24p footage?

3) Should I edit the the footage on a 24p sequence or 30 sequence?

Thanks,
Alex

Re: How do you edit 24p footage?

You can use your DVX100 to import your footage into the computer. It is preferred that you use a deck or cheaper version Minidv Camera as deck that way you are using your DVX100 to shoot with only.

You can edit 24p footage normally however it is not TRUE 24p until you remove the pulldown. The stuff that I have edited still has the film look when completely finished so I am not sure how much of a difference the look will be with the pulldown removed to edit. I think you have to add it back before you output.

You can use any deck to import DVX 24p footage.

Make sure to set capture preset to 24p (2:3 for 24p, 2:3:3:2 for 24pA); make sure the timeline is set for 23.98 fps.

I would edit at 24p to maximize quality of effects/transitions and such, and to save space and processing effort.
