how do you do this?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiDOyQCCpKs&feature=share

the camera movement i'm referring to is all over the video however its most prominent at 3.45-3.50 How do u do that in post? clearly its post.

I believe you could do that in production. However, if I were going to do it in post I would use a wide shot (only wider than the shot I would end up wanting to use). Then I would create my camera movements using after effects (the zooms, jerks. etc.) You could add in the lens flares that way too.

Awesome song by the way.

yeh it really is a nice song.

AE has a Zoom and jerk feature? or you have to track something? (i hardly use it AE :) )will look into that.

Well, basically what you do is take your shot. Then create a new camera. Make your footage a 3D element. Then you can key the camera movements (pan, tilt, zoom, etc.)

Another way you can do it is by keying the footage instead of the camera. Remember how I said you want to shoot a bit wider than what you're going to use? Well, in this case you can take your shot, then zoom in a bit with the camera to get the framing you actually want to use (so the edges of the footage are outside of your scene). From there you can key the footage moving left and right, up and down, larger or smaller (scaling for the zoom "effect").

It's really rough to give instructions in text format, sorry.

YOu do it in camera by having a good tripod that allows you to unlock the pan so that the camera is "skating on ice" when moved.

yeh i do have a tripod that can release all drag....and def can move the cam in interesting ways but this seems very precise and timed and not organic. thats why i think it was done in post. shooting in 4k on something like the RED also would give them plenty of re framing room i'd image (i'm just speculating about RED, i have NO idea if it was).

we are talking high end cine tripods. then you have a skilled cam op that simply listens to the beat of the music. trust me - most likely it's done in camera.
