How do you do that?

I want to experiment with an effect I saw once, but don't know what it's even called to begin trying to figure it out, wanted to see if anyone knows... I know they used it in Timecode and Buffalo 66, basically there were 2, 3 or 4 simultaneous clips playing on the same screen, in boxes all on a black background, does this make sense? It wa slike watching 3 monitors at once... Is this something one can do in FCP, or Motion2 or is it even beyond that? Is there a site or a name for this technique to help a brother/sister out?

Its a piece of cake to do in FCP, double click one of the clips you want and in the viewer window click the 'motion tab'. Under 'Basic Motion' mess with the scale, and center of the clip then do the same for whatever other clips you want. Scale will reduce the size of the clip and center allows you to move the scaled down clip to any part of the screen.

Absolutely. Once you've sized and centred your clips, apply the Basic Border effect (Effects->Video Filters->Basic Border) and tweak the effect settings to taste.

Yup you can add borders or bevels. They are in the Filters drop down. Another thing is to switch the clips one at a time to IMAGE+WIREFRAME then take your mouse and click a corner to resize the clip to a small window of whatever size you want and repeat the process until you have all the clips you want playing on the screen at the same time. When your done resizing switch the clip back to IMAGE.
