How do you credit this...

Let's say you need stuff done for your movie and as a low budget DIYer you do some yourself and hire a professional to do the more challenging parts. How do you credit them?

Let's say you have a complicated camera scene and the guy you hire does an excellent job. Then the parts you do yourself turn out dark and shoddy but you run with it. If I were the camera guy I wouldn't like my name attached to the crapier scenes that the cheap filmmaker (myself!) did. How do you credit this in a fair way so your camera man isn't getting a bad name? Or does the camera man just write this off as an inherant risk of working in a collaborative atmosphere?

I ask because I'm going to use a camera man for a few of my more challenging scenes in my movie and some of the more strait foward scenes I'm going to shoot myself. I'm also going to design some corporate logos that are going to be used in the movie. (ie pretend stuff, not for real life marketing of the film.) Some of this will be designed by me and my limited knowledge of graphical design. Some will be done by a student who is studying this stuff and wants to build a portfolio.

Note, all my people are working for free if that makes a difference in your reply.

Well, I would get it done first before you start worrying about that. You may luck out and/or have a knack for it and your stuff might even be better than theirs.

Professionals generally reserve the right to have their names removed from material with which they don't want to be associated. Let your guys see the final product and you'll find out whether or not they want their names on it.

If it's a problem he could always take the good stuff for his reel/portfolio and leave the name off the credits. That would be very specific if needed, and I'm sure he's aware of the options.
