how do i make a copy of a sequence to use it under a different timeline? i want to copy a few sequences and move them to a new timeline to work on a trailer, without making changes to the original sequences. THX!
I did a couple of searches and found the following advice, but it is kind of confusing...
There's another way I stumbled upon to fit one sequence to another while keeping both as clips. Open up each sequence as tabs and then drag the one tab up of the first sequence. Below you will see the timeline for the other tab also. Then just select your whole sequence and drag it up to the sequence above as an overwrite edit at the end of it. Presto one sequence onto another as individual clips. Then you close the old sequence tab and drag the new sequence down to where it should be and continue on.
Someone also said copy and paste, but I can't get that to work.
all of your sequences should appear in your bin project window, titled sequence 1, sequence 2, etc. So just create a new sequence and drop the other sequences from the bin down in to the timeline. then you can make changes to the other sequences in the new timeline without affecting the original sequences. I hope that helps.
Thank you! I have been reading and searching everywhere for this info!!! If I make a copy of a sequence and place it in the new timeline and keep the original in the original bin will it cause a lot of additional slowdown on my computer? Would that make things harder than they should be, or more efficient (as I assume). Thx!
Kugar13, the action Daniel is referring to is called nesting sequences. It can slow down the project but usually only if you have a lot of sequences. 3 or 4 shouldn't cause too much slow down, depending on how large the sequences are. But nesting a sequence causes the original sequence to open as 1 clip in the new sequence.
You can drag a sequence into your trim monitor, take selected clips from there, and drag them into a new sequence, but Premiere will require a render before it plays them. Or you can just copy and paste certain clips from one sequence into another. Ctrl-C copies a clip, and Ctrl-V will paste a clip. Hope this helps.
