How do you 'circulate a script' amongst producers?

My suggestion is to get a day job and save up. That is a serious suggestion. As someone who has had films in festivals, I can tell you they make zero money (actually, they cost money). So finding an outside investor is not going to happen.

Invest in yourself.

There's really not much of an upside for a producer when it comes to making a short unless it is being used for feature development. It's just not a good investment. Shorts can make good calling cards for directors, actors, DPs and writers.

Very valid point. One of the reasons I am moving in this direction is because I was at a festival last year and I met a producer who secured funding for a short script he liked. I suspect a large portion of the funds came from one of the lead actors (who is more known for his theatre work) and it was the producer that put the correct people in contact and made the project happen. Another angle I had considered are producers who have a background in producing ads and who want to move into film. Securing funding for shorts and producing them would help them too. I say this because I support myself doing freelance work (flash, FCP, retouching) for ad agencies here in NYC. I am using my contacts there to explore this angle.

Thanks for making a serious suggestion but I have already been down that road many times. As stated earlier, this will be my eleventh short. I will repeat yet again, the purpose of this thread was to look for alternatives, in particular – ways to circulate a script amongst producers who can source funding. Also, I am very aware that shorts are calling cards and they do not make money.

So finding an outside investor is not going to happen.
You never know unless you try, I do my best to avoid harbouring defeatist thoughts.

Thanks bro, I am looking into this as well.
