How do u record with a laptop???

Hey,

I just completed a feature fim on the Panasonic HVX200. I recorded all the information on a Firstore 100 (which by the way worked great and was the same cost as renting a p2 card). I own the HVX200, but don't own a p2 card or a Firestore. I rent them.

I have to go back and get 2 to 3 shots for the feature. I don't feel like (ahem spending the money) renting a p2 card or Firestore 100 for 3 shots. What do i need to do to record to a laptop computer? What software needs to be on the labtop? I assume that i record through a firewire cable from the camera to the laptop??? Does anyone have any suggestions or a link?

thanx,
Omar

You must have your NLE software up and running and you basically record on the fly. I use Avid and I simply set the project for what you're shooting in and open capture. You should get an image from your camera and you click record and stop. Beware that you can't record in pN mode over the fire wire.

I asked the same question. Here is the link to some good info.
