Does anyone know the actual procedure and tools used by the dealers to trim the shade down on the anamorphic adaptor for use with the Chrosziel matte box?
I did it myself, after Chrosziel asked for 200 USD to trim the shade of the ana-adapter.
First I unscrewed the front and rear lenses and put them away safely.
Then I made a little holding device from styrofoam into which i placed the front plastic part of the ana-lens to keep it stable for the next steps.
Then I just used a small handheld milling machine to shave of the plastic, leaving a small "rim" of about 1 mm.
A little sanding paper did the job to finish the surface and after cleaning everything and reassembling the lenses the adapter was good to go with my Chrosziel mattebox.
A word of warning: Do use a Phillips Screwdriver that really matches the tiny screws holding the adapter together. They are very easily messed up....
Hey, thanks joachim! I'm curious to know what it is about the stock shade that interferes with the matte box. Is it just so the lens can extend farther into the box so as not to see the edges of the filter stages?
