i don't understand, in videos, how they do slow motion, and the singers can still keep up during the lip-synching. do they just have them sing the song faster? i'm confused.

They speed up the song the singers lipsynch to. Shooting at 60P is 2.5 times faster than shooting at 24, so speeding the song up 2.5 times and shooting at 60P yields normal looking singing and silky smooth sloooow motion.

ohhhhhhhhhhhh, duh. that makes sense. cool.

i thought they just had to guess. haha. i was like 'wow, these guys are amazing guessers. i guess that's what makes them famous.'

i just did a test with my DVX that works pretty good (based on user Toaster's instructions)

speed up audio to 143% for playback. i also found it useful to change the pitch of the track so that way it is not so chipmonk sounding.

shoot : 30p at 120 shutter

slow to 70% in post

it is pretty smooth.

I remember seeing some behind the scenes stuff for the Green Day Boulevard video and they had to do the song at 3x normal speed. Now, considering the material, that's not too hard for Green Day being a punk band, but imagine Britney Spears doing a song at 3x...you thought she couldn't sing at 24fps, shoot, try 72fps!
