How can i un-install final cut from a computer so i can install my legit one on the computer on the same computer. I tried to install it but it was just upgrading the one that the guy had on is computer so i was unable to use my serial and register my copie of final cut studio

Since Apple stopped posting the uninstall technical papers back with FCP 3 or 4, just do a search for "final cut pro" on your system drive and delete it all.

Aside from the Application itself, There a folder in ~/Library/Application Support you want to trash. There's also two files in user/Library/Preferences (apple.com.finalcutpro...something).

That's all I know about, but like I said, Apple has no official tech paper up about what files make up FCP 5.x. The ones I listed should kill of Final Cut Pro, but not the whole Final Cut Suite. You'll have to search for each app's files.

I forget which file it is, but you don't need to uninstall all of FCP to do that. There is one file that keeps the s/n in it. If you axe that then you'll be prompted for a s/n next time to you boot up. Then you can enter the one you have paid for. Try googling around, someone ought to have mentioned this.

My guess, but I can't remember for sure though, is:

Users > Your User Name > Library > Preferences > com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist

Good luck.

cheers.

Actually, I'd personally want to remove as much of the previous version as you can. When the new one installs, it may see files exist, and not overwrite them, and if they're corrupt or part of the problem, your hosed. Always better to be safe than sorry.
