How do I set up an External Monitor

How do I hook an external monitor up so I can edit....I have a Formac It is an A/D converter, but anyway what is the easiest way to use Firewire and have and external monitor...Please anyhelp would be greatly appreciated..

All you need to do is plug the firewire cable to the formac and rca out from the formac to the TV. I'm sure thats it. Don't make things complicated. It's just like hooking up a vcr. I hope this helps.

and of course press the preview to external monitor in your NLE.

Yeah that is the question I have, in Final Cut I will put preview to firewire and I will get nothing, any suggestions

Make sure you select on the view tab: external monitor-all frames.
