How Do I Screen My Film To My Cast

Just wondering if any of you have had the experience of setting up special screenings for the cast & crew of your films or even holding a special screening for lots of people?

How do you go about doing this? I live in Central New Jersey, originally I planned on just having the screening at a friends house but I think I want to do something big to show my appreciation to my crew, any tips or guidance is appreciated.

Some theaters will let you rent a theater for private viewings. Even if you don't have a film version of the movie, they will likely have an LCD projector you could hook up to to display from a laptop.

If you have access to somebodys house with a large TV and or room for lots of people you should take advantage of that. I did one at my freind house for a student film, it was pretty easy, just got a keg and a bunch of food, got the audience a little buzzed before the show so they laugh harder! It was a good time

We screened it for the cast and crew in the director's back yard with a projector and 12 foot screen and big sound system. It was actually better then at the AOF film fest! Had a great time....

Some good tips guys, thanks alot... and I especially love the idea of getting the audience buzz so they can laugh harder.. :) classic

I wonder how much renting a screen at the theater will cost? Probably alot, I'll have to research, I don't have any friends with big screen T.V's, that would be awesome if I did..

thanks again.

I screened my short film in NYC at the Pioneer Theatre for the cast, crew, friends, etc...it cost me $325 for 1 1/2 hours. We had a little reception in the lobby before the screening and then everyone hung out after...it was great!

I have to look into something like that in NJ, my cast and crew probably won't come all the way to NY pluss it's a hassle.
