Hi Guys

urgent help on a project

how do you take out the white background out of an image?

im importing a TIFF File that was done on Photoshop but the photoshop saves it with a white background

im trying to import that file without the white background

how do I elimanate the white background .

I did a Luma Key and it took it out but a faint box lies around the image where the white used to be. know what I mean?

is there a way to take out the white completely., i want the image to be shown without the white background that photoshop saves it with the image.

Finally something I can answer with confidence that I'm telling people the right thing. I've done a whole bunch of these things lately as I've been subtley covering up mistakes(ie. boom polls and shadows) from my show.


Whatever image you plan to input to final cut, make sure the photoshop template you are using has a transparent background.(the background will have like a bunch of green graph bars). When opening a new project you can choose to have it transparent.

So you should have your item you want and nothing else except a grey background with green graph bars.

Click Save As...

Under the choose a file name, you can choose what type of file you want it to be. It's default is photoshop.

Change it to a TIFF file.

Now check save as copy box then okay. Unclick layers.

Now it will give you more boxes to click, unclick etc. As long as the transperacy box is checked, and it is a copy, Save.

You now have a transparent background.

(not sure what you are importing, but once you are in Final Cut,-you may know this, sorry if I'm stating the obvious- If you have image and wireframe option on, you highlight the Photo, you can change it's size and move it wherever you want.)
