How do I open the XLR Ports?

I want to connect an external mic soon and I have tried to take the little plastic cover off of one of the XLR Ports. I find that it is hard to get off and I do not want to be rough with it and break it. Am I just not pulling hard enough? Should I unscrew those tiny screws on either side of the ports to get the plastic covers off? Please help.

NO. You should be able just to pull those plastic covers right off.

no you pull the rober covers off and then you'll have the female XLR jacks that you can plug into

Could be worse. You could be asking how to turn the camera on. I've actually seen that.
