How do I make a short clip of veg file

I have a small project that I am finished editing in Vegas 5, and I want to make a sample clip of about the first minute and half of it. Can anyone tell me how to do this, to include the audio, transitions, and credits?

I am using the trial download and have rendered to an .avi file (mpeg is disabled in the freebie dl) and there are some picture vibrations (even on my text/credit screens) that occur at regular intervals throughout the project and I wanted to get some input on what may be causing it, but I wanted to post a sample so you'd know what I was talking about.

Thanks for helping the newbie....

Well, I've never done the trial version, so I don't what all is disabled, but choose the region you want to render, click "Render As," and then choose Windows Media 9 format.

To choose the region, click right above the timeline ruler and hold the button down as you slide the mouse left or right.

Well, hell... good news and bad news. Good news is that when I rendered a segment as .wmv, the vibration was gone.

Bad news, is that I have found out that I know nada/nunca/niet about compression. My little 1min 16sec clip ended up 8.46 MB... >:( I have fumbled around and figured out how to get and post grabs, spent most of the weekend figuring out Vegas edits (love this and will be buying asap!), have blundered my way thru setting up a homepage with my ISP, finally figured out how to get an avatar in my profile...and now...compression? *sigh* I'm old, but stubborn. :D I'll get it sometime. And all your kids and kid's kids will (maybe) get to see some of my stuff.

;D

Thanks for help on getting a clip of my project though!

Yeah, when you get the full version, you may find that your options and renders improve dramatically. There are a lot of pre-set templates in all of the render formats which should get you by for pretty much any purpose until you figure out how to tinker with it yourself.

Re: How do I make a short clip of veg file

8.46 megs for a little longer than 1 min video clip really isn't bad. People right now are posting 50-100 MB files that are really no longer than 4 or 5 min, so your right in the ballpark.

Re: How do I make a short clip of veg file

I agree. My computer typically downloads about 10 Megs a minute.

Re: How do I make a short clip of veg file

That’s generally why I recommend Windows Media 9. Quicktime files are high-quality, but they’re typically huge. WM9 files are generally about 70-80% smaller at the same quality.

:-/ Yes, that was the original capture. Didnt have the Vegas dl at that time. I know I am back to the drawing board simply because you asked that question.

Re: How do I make a short clip of veg file

No.  I was just curious because you used the HelterSkelter font, which comes standard with Pinnacle's TitleDeko, a light version of which is in Studio.

It really doesn't matter what you captured this with.  The footage looked fine.  I think you're doing OK.

Re: How do I make a short clip of veg file

I believe your vibration is from the trial version, you said "some picture vibrations (even on my text/credit screens) that occur at regular intervals"
This will go away when you enter a serial number.

By the way, Cool clip. Blues Brothers rock!
