How do I light a room for a training video?

Going to my first gig shooting a room full of people listening to a lecturer, etc. Pretty boring stuff. But I want to get both the speaker and the room lit as best I can. I thought I'd just raise the ambient light by my tota lights up at the white ceiling and let it just sort of difuse. But maybe there's a better, more attractive way of doing this?

You'll probably have to go available. Large rooms with audience type settings can be tricky and require a ton of lights to shoot properly, not to mention and genie to power them.

depending on house lights power, you might even have to use 60i and gain. The trick will be if the audience is much lower light that the speakers, you may have to maual iris while you pan.

Be careful if you add lights. Watch your white balance. I hate green audiences. Audio should be your number one concern.
