How do I import a Photoshop File?

I'm trying to import a Photoshop file, but it keeps showing up as a new sequence rather than just a file. In Premiere, it's simple, but with FCP, I'm not sure how this works.
Any help?

Got it...so then i just copy and paste to another sequence? That seems a bit round-about, but it works.

No need to copy and paste. Just drop the PSD sequence into your timeline. Open the PSD sequence to make changes or animate individual layers in your PSD. it will update in the other timeline.
 
If you flatten the PSD in Photoshop and then import the file into FCP it will show up as a single image file (as opposed to a sequence).
